One Stitch At A Time #192

Hi there and welcome to another wonderful challenge at

and the theme this week is USE A DIGI

This week we are sponsored by the lovely Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet
with a complete set of images that we used in challenge #190
and the runner up gets a $3 prize.
But to win main prize you have to use a digi available from the site .

This week i was given a lovely image called Snow Deer Scene by Ike's Art and available at the store.  It comprises of quite a few elements one being the complete scene and the rest are components of the winter trees and snow as well as the fawn and deer being separate if you so wished.  I decided to work with the complete scene which i printed twice to make my project.  This onw came out darker than my first attempt as i had used tracing paper and the night time colours of purple and blue had shown through lovely .  But seeing as i tried to chop two tips of my fingers off and got it covered in blood i restarted and had to use a thickish parchment paper and don't quite get the effect i had before...sadly.

Although this has gone off to a new home as a friend was quite taken with it!

I had started with a canvas that i had made different shades of really dark purples and Dark blues to mimic a dark winters evening. I had then printed the parchment and coloured the deet and bushes and elements of the trees.

I then overlayed a sheet of Acrylic A4 which i then made snow for the trees and added colours for the bush and berries and highlights of snow for the deer.

I used Copics in E 14,17.19 for the body of the deer and her fawn and G 28 and 29 for the bush.
I then used Martha Stewart glitter glues for the red berried and the white on the snow, trees and a little bit of loose glitter on the ground and the back of the deer.

Originally the tracing paper really showed the colour of the evening sky through the two layers but thanks to the thick parchment it is rather muted which was a loss as it created such a lovely effect of twilight on the scene.  I like the Martha Stewart Glitter glue that i ordered some more in a three pack in arctic winter colours as i feel i will use a lot more of this on my Christmas cards this year!

Happily my fingers are healing well and i kept the tips!

I would like to enter my project into the following competitions:

  4. Oh Anita, I cannot believe that you were able to create this stunning card with two heavily bandaged fingers. I am so taken aback by the beautiful dusky atmosphere that you have achieved ......I can just hear you saying that it was better first time round but you are being so hard on yourself. Your snowy trees are gorgeous. ....I feel as though I'm actually with your deer on a snowy, dusky evening. A gorgeous card Anita. Love Ingrid xx
