Lacy Sunshine and anything goes challenge

How is the Christmas shopping going for everyone?  Well, so far i havent been shopping at all....i have been busy beavering away making Christmas cards and homemade gifts for close family and friends....i just hope i have enough time to make them all lol.

This week over at TTPHC

Through The Purple Haze Challenges

We are sponsored by the lovely Heather Valentin from Lacy Sunshine

A nice easy theme this week as it is Anything Goes and i am sure there are lots of lovely projects that you have been waiting to show us?

I love this digi! She is so versatile and looks good in so many different colourways...as you will see, as one of the DT have coloured her up in gorgeous reds.  So i chose the pale blue of a winter day.

She is called Patchy Penny's snowflake and she is available in the new section of the LS website.

I started by matting and layering black, silver and blue patterned papers onto the card blank.  Added a lovely shaped ribbon which you cant see really lol...then mounted the image which again was matted and layered in black, silver and blue patterned papers and card.
A close up of her coloured with the perfect pearl background i gave her in four different colours.
Her hat and jacket are B 000, 00, 01, 02.  Her skirt is lighter in B 000 and B 00.  I coloured her hair in E 31, 33, 35 and 37 and her skin is a favourite combo of mine E 00, 01, 21, 11. R20 for her cheeks.

I added a white glitter frond with silver, pale blue and cream flowers and some of those lovely curly white frosted embellishments that i managed to get hold of last week.

Many thanks for looking at my make this week and we look forward to seeing your creations this week! Have fun!

Scrappers Delights - Anything goes with a twist of Christmas traditional colours.

This week at Scrappers Delights we are getting ready for Christmas!  Yes you heard it right...Christmas!  But then for a crafter we tend to either start early or prepare for it all year round.

Scrappers Delights

I used Snow day Honey and i loved colouring her...especially the snow!  Someone recommended Glamour dust so i managed to get some locally and enjoyed the effects when playing with it.  I kept my card fairly straight forward with one main background colour, the striped background.  Christmas to me always reminds me of candy canes and red, green and white so that is where the idea of the stripy paper came from.  Because that is quite a busy paper i kept it fairly simple after that by colouring the digi in R 33, 35, 37 for the lovely red Christmas attire and then matted it onto gold Mirri card.

I added a corrugated card band through the middle with some green and silver sentiments and some lovely button snow flakes that i had in my stash.  I just snipped the shank of the back! So that they would sit flush.

Hey presto done and dusted!  So decidedly straight forward.  Mind you my cards of late have been decidedly straight forward and not too complicated as i have expended a lot of my energy of late looking after a hospitalized friends mentally challenged grown up children.  and then introducing my 8 yearl old to a new speech and language school... dare i say it that i may have time for more complex makes? soon?

Here is a close up of all those glittery bits that i used my tub of glitter on...lovely!

This week i am entering the following challenges:

TSC at The Purple Haze Challenges!

Hi there over at TTPHC this week

Through The Purple Haze Challenges

We are sponsored by the lovely Tamara from the Stamping Chef.

The winner wins three digi images of their choice.

So what did i do this week? Well i looked after a very poorly 8 year old with a temp topping 103 and he gave me three scary days with his yoyo temperature, and another three days getting over it...so a crazy week but you dont want to know that!

What you really want to find out is what i did with my digi

I decided to colour her in green rather than Christmassy red for a change.  So that i could still bring in lots of the traditional red, green and white of Christmas.

I used both mesh ribbon and Christmas ribbon as per the challenge requirements this week. I love the red of the card i added to mat and layer with along with the silver mirri. Oh! I couldn't resist the naughty or nice sentiment either.

I enjoyed adding the rolled roses from Gort & Godt that my son gave me a while back...added with the holly leave and red l flowers i think it finishes off the card nicely although i wasn't happy with the overall effect of the glittery tights.

Here is a close up....nope still not happy with the glittery tights.

Any way i hope you like the challenge and look forward to seeing your makes this week..

Tonic dies! what a great sponsor!!

Wow!

Over at TTPHC this week

We were really lucky to land a one off sponsorship from Tonic and they sent through some fabulous dies, tapes, glue and cutting boards.

Tonic Studios

So my make this week is made using a Tonic Die called Verso die - Diamond swing oval and i used the glue sent to make the card.

Verso Die - Diamond Swing Oval

So here is what i made.

I started with a cream pearlescent card blank and then die cut both ovals in the same cream pearlescent card.  They were then both mounted onto foam squares for dimension.

I then added the lace at the bottom, flowers, swans and the letters for the happy 25th anniversary.  A really nice cute card to make and i love how these dies cut first time on thick card unlike some others on the market.

Here have a gander at those lovely clean cut edges and i didn't even have to pope bits out or recut....first time through the die cutter machine and all done first time. Just the way i like it!

Don't forget to leave a little love. xx

Scrappers Delights - Anything goes with a twist of paper piecing

Morning!
What a lovely couple of autumnal days full of sunshine! A chill in the air just how i like it, and unusual for November.  This week i have the paper piecing challenge from Scrappers Delights
for you  Well as a twist anyway as you know it is always Anything goes.

So pop over to the store and have a looksee as you may find the perfect digi for your project!

Scrappers Delights

My digi image this week for the paper piecing is Emo Honey 1  and she is kinda cute and easy to colour.

You can follow this link to the Scrappers Delights blog for the challenge!  It runs for two weeks so you have plenty of time to come along and join in!

Ok so my DT make for you this week is this card its a 6x6 a size i tend to work with.

I am one of these Crafters that at the moment i colour may image first and then match in my papers and elements after...i have tried it the other way by choosing a colour scheme etc and then colouring but i really dont like doing it that way for some reason...weird huh?

So this week i paper pieced her jacket and skirt in a brown paper as i am not a lover of fussy patterns when paper piecing as i find it distract me and i am never happy with it.

I coloured her hair with a Yr 21, 23, 24, 27 combo and added two BV and B combos into the streaks one is more purple based colour the the other more bluer.

The hearts are R 20, 21, 22 and the skin is a combo of E 00,01,11,21.  The bear was almost all of my E 30's.

I used twine and a cute red strawberry embellishment to pick up the red hearts in her hair and the papers picked up other elements from the digi colour. The papers as always i skim through my paper stash for the colours i am happy with for matting and layering. My first attempt at paper piecing as i really try to avoid  and i don't think it turned out too bad.

I intend to enter into the following challenges:

Tattered Lace

This week i was lucky to be able to play with a really gorgeous die called Sparkle from Tattered Lace which was sent to TTPHC by the lovely Stephanie Weightman!

Now you can get these dies from a lot of craft shops, but primarily from  crafting.co.uk  .

Now i know for a fact that http://crafting.co.uk have this on sale as well as a number of other lovely dies.

So this is Sparkle

Tattered Lace Dies - Sparkle

And this is the lovely Christmas card i made with this gorgeous die.

Look at the really intricate lines in the oval frame work...beautiful!

The Christmas tree looks great embossed!

Now as much as i love these dies you really have to put it through the die cutter a number of times to get a clean cut and sadly even though i really tried all sorts of different combinations of die cutting plates on my Ebosser i couldn't get the Christmas tree to fully cut out so i ended up using it by embossing the die, which i have to say still came out looking lovely.

So i love the die its worth buying and great for Christmas and i think you need a better sandwich for cutting the tree, maybe it was the Ebosser and a different die cutting machine may get a cleaner cut but that's what i use as i cant crank the dies through any more...lol

Happy crafting!
